Job summary

Sonepar Canada is seeking a Data Architect to design and evolve enterprise data architecture and govern data governance deliverables. The role bridges business, governance, and technical teams to deliver trusted, high-quality data across systems.

You will maintain data models, support data flows, and contribute to governance forums while ensuring regulatory alignment and enterprise architecture strategies. English and French preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5–8 years in data architecture, data modelling, or related roles.
• Proven experience with data governance or data management frameworks.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with a pragmatic mindset for innovation.
• Strong proficiency in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) and SQL and relational data structures.
• Experience with data catalog and governance tools.
• Understanding of data governance principles (ownership, quality, lifecycle).
• Ability to balance hands-on delivery with structured governance.

The Data Architect is responsible for designing and evolving enterprise data architecture while actively contributing to the execution and continuous improvement of the organization’s data governance framework.

This role plays a critical function within the enterprise data governance framework and combines hands‑on data modelling and design with ownership of key governance deliverables at the domain or project level, while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., privacy, security) and enterprise architecture strategies.

The position acts as a bridge between business, data governance, and technical teams, enabling trusted, high-quality data across systems.

Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field 5–8 years of experience in data architecture, data modelling, or related roles
• Proven experience working with data governance or data management frameworks
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with a pragmatic mindset for innovation
• Strong proficiency in Data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) and SQL and relational data structures
• Experience with Data catalog and governance tools
• Strong understanding of data governance principles (ownership, quality, lifecycle)
• Ability to balance hands‑on delivery with structured governance
• Effective stakeholder communication and facilitation
• Analytical thinking and problem‑solving
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Fully fluent in English and French preferred
