Data Analyst, Indigenous Health Equity Fund

Full Time Term Position to March 31, 2026 (with possibility of extension)

Location : Winnipeg, MB

Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc. (MKO) is seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to join the Indigenous Health Equity Fund (IHEF) team. This role offers a unique opportunity to improve healthcare outcomes for First Nations communities in northern Manitoba. Under the guidance of the IHEF Administrator and Funding Officer, the successful candidate will develop data frameworks, ensure data governance, and provide analytical insights for policy and program development.

Role and Responsibilities
Data Collection & Analysis
  • Develop tools and methodologies for data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Establish regional processes for monitoring First Nations health and wellness, including metrics development and implementation.
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and prepare reports and publications.
  • Ensure data accuracy and support project processes.
  • Perform comparative analyses using appropriate statistical methods.
  • Support community-level surveillance processes.
  • Develop policies, protocols, and processes related to data management.
  • Identify key trends affecting First Nations communities.
  • Monitor and improve data quality within MKO.
Data Storage & Governance
  • Create secure data storage systems complying with governance standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of data.
  • Ensure data management aligns with OCAP Principles.
Reporting & Visualization
  • Generate dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate program performance.
  • Prepare written reports and presentations summarizing findings for diverse audiences.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Liaise with government, First Nation leaders, and partners to gather and share insights.
  • Represent MKO in meetings and public forums as needed.
Operational Support & Training
  • Provide technical support and training on data tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields; Master's preferred.
  • Experience with stakeholders, First Nations health data, and administrative health data.
  • Knowledge of health issues impacting First Nations and epidemiologic principles.
  • Experience in analytical roles, process review, and performance measurement.
  • Skills in defining data points, organizing, and analyzing data with statistical software.
  • Understanding of OCAP Principles and data sovereignty.
  • Experience with data linkages, databases, and extraction tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and visualization skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Satisfactory background checks.

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
