Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, the Data Analyst – Finance and Sustainability will support Killam’s internal and external reporting, focusing on data analysis for portfolio-level energy consumption. This role collaborates closely with the finance team and cross-functionally with property management and operations. The successful candidate must have exceptional data analysis, organizational, interpersonal skills, and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze data related to portfolio-level energy, water, waste, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
  • Maintain Killam’s GHG inventory in accordance with the GHG Protocol.
  • Support the review and updates of Killam’s Energy Management Software (EMS).
  • Validate and review energy consumption data, cost models, and forecasts for accuracy.
  • Conduct utility rate research across Canadian energy markets.
  • Monitor utility consumption models impacting forecasting and budgeting, including oversight of sub-metered properties for tenant billing.
  • Collaborate with various teams to optimize data collection and analysis.
  • Assist with annual reporting and ongoing utility data analysis for the Energy and Sustainability Teams.
  • Analyze operational expenses to generate insights for cost reduction.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as needed to support senior management.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in business, finance, sustainability, data analytics, or related field.
  • 1-2 years’ relevant experience, preferably in real estate.
  • Ability to synthesize financial information and communicate effectively.
  • Motivated self-starter eager to drive change.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and carbon accounting is a plus.
