As we continue to enhance our capabilities delivering data-driven insights, we are looking for a Data Analyst to help execute and advance our Internal Audit data analytics strategy. Role Description:
Reporting to the Director, Data & Analytics, the Data Analyst will support the Canadian Internal Audit (IA) function.
Acting as a strategic partner with audit teams, you will utilize your strong technical skillset, problem solving, curiosity, and continuous improvement mindset to support the implementation cutting-edge solutions in Data Analytics, Automation, and AI/GenAI; transforming how IA provides assurance and insights.
Supporting the Internal Audit team:
- Utilize Descriptive and Diagnostic analytics techniques to support audit engagements and initiatives
- Extract, prepare, clean, and transform data from a variety key business systems using SQL, Alteryx, and other technical tools for use in engagements or initiatives
- Utilize business intelligence tools like Power BI to connect, model, and visualize data to deliver insights for audit teams
- Design and implement automation solutions (e.g., using Power Platform, Alteryx, or Python) to streamline audit processes and reduce manual effort.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of business system and documenting data knowledge to meet the needs of the Canadian team
- Develop and maintain regular reporting to support oversight of audit KPIs
- Consult with audit teams on data analytics best practices
- Partner with IS and business stakeholders to navigate and obtain access to several key business systems
- Support Internal Audit’s data analytics strategic and training initiatives
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
- Post-Secondary education in computer science, information systems, statistics, actuarial science, business or other related field
- 2+ years experience with data extraction, data management, business intelligence, and automation
- Experience with:
- Data Mining, Data Visualization and Data Modeling tools such as: SQL, Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, Azure Databricks, Python/R etc.
- Automation tools such as Microsoft Power Platform
- GenAI/LLM tools such as Microsoft Copilot
- Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint
- Familiarity with enterprise systems and IT environments, such as SAP, Mainframes, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, and IBM DB2
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, relationship building, teamwork, and collaboration skills
- Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with difficult situations and opinions diplomatically
Other Desired Qualifications And Competencies
- Experience in internal or external audit is considered an asset
- Experience working in Financial Institutions, including insurance, wealth management, capital markets, investments is considered an asset
The base salary for this position is between
$52,800 - $97,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
