Damage Prevention Technician

About The Role

The Damage Prevention Technician locates underground utilities such as high-voltage electrical cables, water lines, sewer lines, steam lines, gas lines, telephone lines, and more within a designated geographic area. Using company-provided equipment, the technician will locate, mark (with spray paint and flags), and record underground utilities. Full training is provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employ a health and safety mindset when working with customers and communities
  • Consult with contractors, developers, and builders regarding underground utility locations
  • Prepare reports and documentation verifying marked utilities
  • Safeguard company equipment and vehicle
  • Conduct sewer safety inspections

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and manage workload to meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficient in computer use
  • Problem-solving skills and good judgment in various situations
  • Physical ability to walk in ditches, on uneven surfaces, lift and load equipment up to 9kg (20 lbs), and carry/swing 20 lbs of equipment while walking
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Valid ‘G’ class Driver’s License and a clean three-year Driver’s Abstract

Minimum Requirements

  • Full G License and a clean driver’s abstract
  • High school diploma or equivalent
