Aletta Holsteins Inc. in Linden, MB invites applications for two full-time Dairy Farm Workers to assist with day-to-day dairy operations. You will work under the farm manager, feeding and tending livestock, milking, operating equipment, and helping with field and facility maintenance.

Requirements include ability to communicate in English, follow directions, and affinity with livestock. Permanent position, 30 hours per week, with two vacancies.

Responsibilities

• Feed and tend dairy cows, calves and young livestock.
• Perform milking in a rotary parlour and operate milk robot; report robotic errors.
• Sort and handle cows, calves and young livestock.
• Recognize heat and assist in breeding activities.
• Identify disease and health issues in calves and livestock.
• Assist with hoof trimming and move cows as needed.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• Clean bedding, pens, barns and farmyards.
• Check water basins and airflow in barns.
• Assist with field work, including harvesting dairy feed.
• Maintain and clean farm facilities and infrastructure.
• Follow food safety and animal bio-security procedures.

Aletta Holsteins Inc. is a family owned and operated dairy operation located in Linden, MB. They milk approx. 1500 high productive cows with additional young stock on two locations. We currently have an opening for two Dairy Farm Workers (NOC 85100).

Employment type: Permanent, full time (30h/week) (2 vacancies)

Salary: $ 17.70 per hour

Position Summary: Reporting to the farm manager, the Dairy Farm Worker is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day activities on the dairy farm.

Duties include:

• Feed and tend dairy cows, calves and young livestock
• Perform milking in an external rotary parlour as well as bring cows to a milk robot, if necessary and report robotic error messages
• Sort and handle cows, calves and young livestock
• Recognize and report cows in heat and assist in performing breeding activities
• Recognize and report disease and health problems in young calves and other livestock
• Assist with hoof trimming duties, bring cows to box
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
• Clean cow bedding, clean calve pens, clean barns, and farmyards
• Clean miking parlour and milk robots
• Check and monitor water basins and air flow in barns
• Assist with field work, including harvest of dairy feed
• Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of farm facilities and farm infrastructure which includes but is not limited to cleaning pens, barns, milk parlours, barnyards, lunchroom, locker rooms, bathrooms, regular mowing farmyard and around barns and feed storage, weed whacking, snow removal, and general maintenance farmyard.
• Follow food safety and security and animal bio-security procedures

Requirements:

• Some experience is an asset
• Affinity with livestock is required
• Experienced with milking, and other relevant farm work is preferred;
• Able to follow directions
• Able to communicate in the English language
