Job description

DESIRED CONTRACT TERM: 26 Weeks
START DATE: August 19, END DATE: February 14

WORK SCHEDULE: 4 business days / 32 hours per week
WORK LOCATION: Hybrid - Own home and office

REPORTS TO: The Festival Director or Festival Coordinator

SUMMARY: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships. It reports to the Festival Director and Festival Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to emails and inquiries regarding the festival
  • Create and maintain a list of volunteers, leading volunteer outreach
  • Support the Festival Coordinator and programmers with on-site event support during live events, including event kick-off, media launch, and festival screenings
  • Create, disseminate, and collect festival feedback surveys post-festival
  • Liaise with festival partners and sponsors via email or phone, supporting meetings with VIPs as needed
  • Support or collaborate with the Social Media & Communications Assistant as needed
  • Attend team meetings or events actively
  • Meet regularly with the festival team and board to organize priorities and provide feedback

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent oral skills in English; French language skills are highly desirable
  • Experience in arts administration, event management, or the arts and culture sector is an asset
  • Passionate about Ottawa’s independent filmmaking community is an asset

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined based on the following criteria:

  • Unemployed job seeker or employed less than 20 hours/week
  • Permanent resident in Ontario legally authorized to work in Canada

Candidates must also meet, and provide documentation for, at least one of the following:

  • Active Employment Insurance (EI) claim or
  • Recent EI benefit period within the last five years or
  • Paid EI premiums in at least three of the last ten years (with earnings of at least $2K in each year) or
  • Received CERB within the last five years

NOTE 1: Full-time academic students are not eligible.

NOTE 2: If eligible for EI benefits, applicants must apply before participating in JCP.

REMUNERATION:

Gross pay of $20 per week, based on 32 hours of work, funded by the Province of Ontario.
