Job Description
Join our talented team as we embark on an uncharted gaming adventure! We're on the lookout for a passionate 3D Character Artist to contribute their skills to our Dungeons & Dragons PC/console project. This innovative game will blend the features of action-RPG/survival with unique elements of life-simulation games to redefine the genre and capture the imaginations of players worldwide.
As part of a team based in Montreal, you will help shape the look and feel of the game’s characters and contribute to building a world full of life and personality.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Help define and develop the visual style, contributing ideas and supporting art direction throughout production.
Collaborate on the implementation of new techniques and automation processes to improve the character production pipeline.
Create high- and low-resolution characters under next-gen constraints.
Creating characters, fantasy creatures, and monsters.
Perform UV mapping, texturing, and material balancing on both organic and hard-surface models.
Qualifications
Requirements
Understanding of the technical constraints of cross-platform (consoles/PC/mobile) production
Strong knowledge of anatomy and character structure.
Proficiency in stylized hair creation techniques (not using hair cards).
Expertise in 3D modeling tools (3ds Max, Maya, Blender, etc.).
Expert use of production software such as ZBrush, Substance Painter, Marvelous Designer, Photoshop.
Strong knowledge of the hand-painted texture techniques and experience with PBR pipelines.
Knowledge of advanced baking techniques (normal, AO, cavity, roughness, metalness, etc.).
Ability to interpret and translate 2D concepts/sketches into high-quality 3D models.
Production experience with Unity or Unreal Engine.
Understanding rigging and shader requirements is a plus.
Shader creation experience in Unity is a strong asset.
Familiarity with Substance Designer, 3D Coat, and Marmoset Toolbag is also a plus.
