Job description

StackTeck, with over five decades of mold building innovation, is a leading source of high productivity tooling solutions for the injection molding industry. StackTeck supplies a wide range of injection molds and IML automation used to produce plastic parts in applications such as caps, closures, medical, PET preforms, and thinwall packaging; as well as complete system integrations including IML.

SUMMARY: The position of Cylindrical Grinder (Studer) is responsible for set-up and machining of hardened steel components to tight tolerances, as per outlined drawings and/or specifications using manual and CNC machines.

Please note this position is for weekend shift - Friday to Sunday from 3:30 pm to 4:00 am.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, and set up requirements from drawings and/or component drawings
  • Perform set up and operation of Manual or CNC Cylindrical Grinder(s)
  • Check blueprints to verify machining dimensions to machine a product to the final desired dimension.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances for their specific operation, sequence of operation, and setup requirements.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of grind.
  • Matches and identifies stack components and records pre-loads.
  • Through the use of precision measurement tools to ensure quality, the machinist verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications and all tolerances as low as +/-.0002" to +/- .001", and signs off on required document.
  • Confers with Supervisor, Production Personnel, or others to resolve any problems they may encounter.
  • The proper maintenance of their machine and housekeeping of their work area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Post-Secondary education - Diploma or Certificate in General Machining/CNC Programming preferred
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in a similar role with experience working with grinders
  • Knowledge of CNC and Manual set up of grinding machines
