Why You

The Cyber Security Analyst, as part of a team-based approach, will be responsible for monitoring and responding to IT security alerts and threats promptly. This role also involves detecting, assessing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities across Pythian's IT systems, including assets located at our data center and in a multi-cloud environment.

This position is a 12-month maternity leave replacement starting around May/June.

What will you be doing

  1. Ensuring the security of business-critical IT systems managed by IT Operations, including networks, servers, infrastructure services, and end-user systems.
  2. Investigating and responding to security tickets and incidents.
  3. Performing monthly vulnerability assessments, recording and analyzing results, suggesting mitigation strategies, and tracking resolution progress.
  4. Conducting daily security checks according to established procedures; analyzing findings and escalating issues as needed.
  5. Evaluating, recommending, and implementing security controls and solutions for current and future IT systems.
  6. Staying updated on current IT security trends and regulatory requirements.
  7. Monitoring industry security alert lists (e.g., USCERT) and reviewing updates promptly.
  8. Auditing Pythian's IT systems, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, within approved scopes.
  9. Creating security reports and documentation.
  10. Recommending improvements to security processes and policies.
  11. Participating in incident response activities.

What do we need from you

  • Fundamental knowledge of network security.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles, with experience in AWS and/or GCP being an asset.
  • Experience with EDR/XDR or anti-malware tools.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management tools.
  • Experience with SIEM tools such as SumoLogic, DataDog, or Splunk.
  • Knowledge of Identity Access Management platforms like OneLogin or Okta.
  • Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or similar are advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
