We are searching, on behalf of our client, a custom equipment production facility located just west of the GTA, for an experienced Customs Specialist with a robust background in transportation logistics, supply chain planning, and scheduling (material movements). Proficient in Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Workflow. Skilled in maintaining and developing compliance with USMCA and other trade systems. Comprehensive knowledge of HS codes and trade regulations. Carriers’ relationship, selections and negotiations, outside warehousing management.
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Perform other duties as specified by the Production Engineering Manager.
- Ensure compliance with trade regulations and customs requirements.
- Assist in the development of supply chain schedules and plans.
- Analyze transportation data using SQL to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for domestic and international shipments.
- Automate workflows using Microsoft Workflow to improve efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with USMCA and other trade agreements.
- Develop and implement supply chain planning and scheduling strategies.
- Ensure accurate classification of goods using HS codes.
- Utilize Power BI and SQL to analyze and report on transportation and customs data.
- Oversee customs clearance processes for international shipments.
Requirements :
- Require daily communication with multiple departments to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Language: Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
- Mental and physical requirements include: carrying, stooping, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking.
Education & Skills :
- Certification as a Customs Specialist (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist or Customs Broker License).
- Expertise in managing transportation logistics to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods.
- Thorough understanding of HS codes for accurate classification of goods.
- Skilled in supply chain planning and scheduling to meet business objectives.
- Strong ability to maintain and develop compliance with USMCA and other trade systems, including documentation creation and maintenance for Customs Audits.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.
Experience :
- Minimum of 3 years using ERP logistics functions.
- Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment (note: verify if this is relevant to the role).
- At least three years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar role.
- Experience with SYSPRO is an asset.
- Experience in automating and streamlining business processes using Microsoft Workflow is an asset.
- Experience in data mining, creating Excel Power Queries / BI for data visualization, and SQL for database management and analysis.
- Certification as a Supply Chain Professional (ASCM / CSCP) is an asset.
