Omnitrans is currently searching for a Customs Specialist to join our Client Services Team in our Canadian Customs Brokerage division in Montreal or Toronto.

The CSR is the official point of contact responsible for communicating between assigned clients and various departments within the company to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely information and to coordinate all activities related to Customs clearance of shipments entering Canada.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain and develop first-class client relations via phone and email regarding shipments, discrepancies, billing, deliveries, etc.
  2. Ensure all documents required for customs clearance are received in good order (Commercial invoice, Canada Customs Invoice, Export licenses, Bills of lading, etc.)
  3. Compile, verify, and ensure data accuracy; resolve potential issues before processing documentation.
  4. Contact clients to obtain missing information.
  5. Prioritize shipments for processing.
  6. Coordinate with warehouses, freight forwarders, and trucking companies regarding shipment status and resolve related issues.
  7. Monitor and update shipment status via electronic systems and manual updates.
  8. Communicate with CBSA and other PGAs to resolve release issues or inquire about entry status.
  9. Coordinate with internal departments (accounting, technical, logistics, etc.) to meet shipment or client needs.
  10. Suggest improvements to supervisors to enhance communication and workflow.
  11. Validate and ensure completeness of client release and specific profile instructions.
  12. Perform general clerical duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a college degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience in logistics, ocean or air freight, or supply chain management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of CBSA regulations, import documents, and transport procedures.
  • CCS certification is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn company software quickly.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to multitask and organize effectively.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
