Omnitrans is currently searching for a Customs Specialist to join our Client Services Team in our Canadian Customs Brokerage division in Montreal or Toronto.

The CSR is the official point of contact responsible for communicating between assigned clients and various departments within the company to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely information, and to coordinate all activities related to Customs clearance of shipments entering Canada.

Responsibilities :

  1. Maintain and develop first-class client relations via phone and email regarding order shipments, discrepancies, billing, deliveries, etc.
  2. Ensure all documents required for goods release are received in good order (Commercial invoice, Canada Customs Invoice, Export licenses, Bills of lading, etc.)
  3. Compile, verify data accuracy, and effectively resolve potential problems or discrepancies before documents are sent for processing.
  4. Contact clients to obtain missing information.
  5. Establish shipment processing priorities.
  6. Communicate with warehouses, freight forwarding companies, and trucking companies to inquire about shipment status, resolve issues, or arrange deliveries.
  7. Manage and track shipment status via electronic monitoring and manual updates.
  8. Communicate with CBSA and other PGAs to resolve release issues or inquire about entry status.
  9. Coordinate with internal departments (accounting, technical, logistics) to meet shipment or client-specific needs.
  10. Propose suggestions to supervisors or managers to improve communication and workflow at all levels.
  11. Validate and ensure the completeness of client release and Mode of Transport-specific profile instructions.
  12. Perform other general clerical duties.

What you Bring :

  • Completion of College degree
  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, ocean or air freight, or supply chain
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines
  • Knowledge of CBSA regulations, importation documents, and transport
  • CCS certification is a plus but not mandatory
  • Proficient in MS Office and quick to learn company software and specific programs
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Multitasking and organizational skills
  • Bilingual in French and English
