Job Responsibilities

The Customs & FTA Analyst will be responsible for various customs compliance tasks supporting the MML divisions. This role requires expertise in tariff classification and free trade agreements for Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. and involves collaboration with external suppliers, customers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing the free trade agreement process, including solicitation, documentation review, and customer qualification.
  2. Handling customer requests related to customs and free trade agreements, such as LVC statements and country of origin affidavits.
  3. Providing technical support to internal stakeholders across various departments.
  4. Supporting sourcing decisions and cost calculations through duty impact analysis.
  5. Determining tariff classifications for parts and maintaining related databases.
  6. Ensuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements across regions.
  7. Supporting shipment processes and customs audits.
  8. Managing relationships with customs brokers and responding to customs inquiries.
  9. Monitoring and managing customs bonds, permits, and licenses.
  10. Developing internal controls for compliance with customs regulations.
  11. Participating in customs-related meetings and maintaining departmental procedures.
  12. Upholding company policies and legal compliance in all activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in customs & trade-related fields.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Familiarity with Mexico Customs requirements and ERP systems like SAP.
  • Preferred: Customs Certified Specialist designation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with US and Canadian import/export compliance, tariff classification, and free trade agreements.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Working Conditions

Standard office environment with potential domestic or cross-border travel (~10%).
