Job description

General Summary

The Customer Service Representative will be the primary order desk representative during working hours.The Customer Service Representative will assist in plant opening and driver shift scheduling. In this role, the Customer Service Representative may or will also interact with customers, identifying their needs, and relaying important communications to all members of the Sunrock team while ensuring maximum utilization of company assets.Additionally, in the role, the incumbent will work as a Customer Service Representative receiving customer orders, entering orders in the system and offering value added products.The position receives guidance with respect to general objectives. In the majority of tasks and projects assigned, the incumbent determines methods, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignments while operating within specific policy guidelines. The position will spend approximately two months in a training program that will cover the following functional areas: Quality Control, Concrete Operations, Concrete Dispatch, and Sales.A typical work schedule is Monday-Friday with ten (10) to twelve (12) hour days and rotating Saturdays.The incumbent must practice absolute confidentiality. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other task as assigned by Manager, Sales. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) may be required.This job description provides an overview of responsibilities and task to be performed.It is not intended to be an all-inclusive job description as needs tend to change over time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.Complies with all safety policies, procedures and established safe practices. Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or the Manager Safety and Health.

2.Monitors the safety practices (including PPE) of all team members and proactively addresses deficits.

3.Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock and Ministry of Labor standards.

4.Coordinates daily truck and driver movement for entire Ready Mix fleet.

5.Coordinates order fulfillment location.

6.Assists Supervisor Concrete Dispatch in customer order prioritization.

7.Receives orders for ready mixed concrete and related products.

8.Interacts with customers on a regular basis throughout the day communicating with them as their needs or Sunrock’s abilities change. Makes those changes effective in the system and communicates them internally to all operations, quality, sales, or management personnel who need to be aware of the change.

9.Serves as a communication hub between customers and other departments.

10.Confers with plant production and yard personnel to establish delivery schedules according to factors such as truck capacities, distances to delivery site, and unloading time.

11.Works with plant supervisors and lead drivers to ensure proper driver schedules are developed and properly followed.

12.Ensures orders are received and entered into the dispatch software accurately and in a timely manner.

13.Provides additional sales support by offering value added products.

14.Represents our product and service honestly to internal and external customers.

15. Ensures various operations, sales, and quality control personnel receive delivery schedules and requirements for future orders.

16.Receives cash payments for shipments and prepares reports of cash and charge sales.

17.Participates in the opening and closing rotation as determined by the Supervisor Concrete Dispatch.

18.Administers the records retention and destruction procedures for your department according to the retention schedule outlined in the Records Management Program Manual.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Transportation/Logistics preferred.A minimum of two (2) years of related industry experience and/or training is preferred.Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

·Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills required.

·Ability to professionally interact with the customer base and Sunrock personnel.

·Aptitude to communicate with customers regarding schedule changes and problem resolution in a manner, which improves the relationship Sunrock, has with the customer.

·Ability to read and interpret documents, in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization in English.

·Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

·Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

·Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

·Prioritizes tasks.

Physical Demands
