The Government of Nunavut is seeking a Custodian to maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary school environment under the supervision of the Principal. This role supports student learning by ensuring facilities are well-kept and secure.
Applicants must have Grade 6 education or equivalent experience, be able to complete a WHMIS course, and consent to a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. This position is restricted to Nunavut Inuit as per policy.

Reporting to the Principal, the incumbent has the responsibility of maintaining the sanitary and safe environment for the students and staff of the school. In doing so, the Custodian plays a significant role in maintaining the operations and functionality of the school and supporting a learning environment that is conducive to student success.
The purpose of this position is to maintain a safe, secure, comfortable and sanitary school. By doing this, the Custodian helps to create a positive learning environment for students and pleasant working environment for school staff.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job may be obtained by Grade 6 education or equivalent lift experience. Able to complete WHMIS course for certification.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
