Salary (2025-2026):
Position:
- Eight(8)hours per day
- Twelve (12) month position
- School Hours: 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm
- Summer Hours: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direction, the custodial shift group leader is responsible for the leadership and supervision of the custodial staff at the assigned school facility during an assigned shift. Daily participation in the custodial work includes, but is not limited to, instructing the custodial staff concerning housekeeping duties as required by facility usage, communication with the Head Custodian/Maintenance person concerning scheduling of custodial activities and other pertinent custodial information. District facilities will be safe, attractive, clean, and efficient for students, employees, and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervision
- Provide supervision and leadership for the custodians working their assigned shift, typically 2ndor 3rdshift.
Requisition of Supplies
- Requisition custodial supplies and equipment from Head Custodian/Maintenance Person
General Housekeeping Duties
- Perform duties that may require the use of basic mechanical cleaning equipment such as a buffer, vacuum, cleaner, etc.
- Perform exterior duties such as, but not limited to, snow removal and trash removal, as assigned by the supervisor.
Minor Repairs
- Complete minor repairs to buildings and equipment such as, but not limited to, changing lamps in light fixtures
- Report custodial or maintenance items of a more serious nature to their immediate supervisor.
Safety Awareness
- Observe and report deficiencies in the cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of District facilities.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Must be willing to be reassigned to unspecified duties when required to meet special needs or emergencies such as snow removal.
- Other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous custodial experience preferred
- High school diploma
SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment (Ex. buffers, vacuum cleaners, etc.)
- Ability to use computer technology efficiently, i.e., electronic mail, internet, word, and spread sheet programs for communication, research, or documentation purposes.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL / ENVIRONMENTAL:
Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength, i.e., lifting and pushing approximately 35 pounds, and climbing ladders approximately 20 feet high.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch
Sensory Abilities:
- Visual acuity to perform observations on custodial equipment and other physical plant items, to determine proper operation and cleanliness
- Auditory acuity to be able to determine proper custodial equipment operations
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly
Temperament:
- Must be courteous, helpful, and cooperative in relationships with supervisors, fellow workers, professional staff, students, and building visitors.
Mental Demands:
- Ability to communicate written and oral instructions to the subordinate custodians on the assigned shift, on a daily basis, and to enable each person to clearly understand their duties.
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions relating to service calls, cleaning methods, supply orders, and other similar communications
Environment:
- May include exposure to hot temperatures, cold temperatures, sudden change in temperature, noise, slippery surfaces, rain and snow.
