Summary
The Stronger Together: Gender Based Violence Prevention and Support Project aims to significantly reduce gender-based violence (GBV) in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) by employing integrated strategies that encompass education, community capacity building, early intervention, and economic empowerment for survivors. Its overarching goal is to create a supportive environment that addresses GBV comprehensively.
The Curriculum Developer/Trainer will focus on developing resources, customized training, and content for the purpose of building the capacity of community partners to identify, address, and prevent gender-based violence. The Curriculum Developer/Trainer will deliver training and workshops on gender-based violence related topics and will support in the development of best practices that promote the prevention of gender-based violence.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Work closely with the project team to develop workshop and training content focused on the prevention and addressing of gender-based violence.
- Utilize various tools to enhance participant engagement, such as the integration of multimedia and other assets into workshops and training.
- Understand and address the needs and barriers of partner organizations as it relates to addressing gender-based violence.
- Incorporate additional resources, referrals, and supports available into workshops and training.
- Identify and incorporate the technical requirements and teaching modalities to address different learning styles.
- Participate in status update and team meetings.
- Stay abreast of new developments in GBV and women’s issues.
- Assist with program review and evaluation by using a variety of tools and methods
- Gather data, conduct periodic review of the project activities, and solicit participants and key partners’ feedback.
- Provide a monthly update report to Manager.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as tracking workshop attendance and resources distributed; ensure the timely and accurate submission of all statistical and program information to be used in internal and external reports.
- Maintain positive and clear communication with other team members to facilitate teamwork, successful target management and customer service.
- Perform other related duties, as required and as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of a post-secondary University Degree or College Diploma in a related field, such as Social Work/Social Services or Adult Education
- 3-5 years’ experience providing training to adults, preferably within the non-profit sector
- Familiar with instructional design and adult learning principles, including the development of training that meets the needs of the learner
- Excellent presentation skills, with a proven track record of creating, facilitating, and evaluating comprehensive workshops and training.
- Demonstrated diplomacy, interpersonal communication skills, cultural sensitivity, problem solving and organizational skills
- Knowledge of relevant community resources and partners in the Greater Toronto Area to address the needs of participants
- Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Internet, and online meeting tools such as Zoom
- Experience with various administrative tasks such as data entry, tracking, stats collection, and report writing
