JOB OVERVIEW

NIMA is looking for a dedicated and experienced Métis Curriculum Developer to lead the development of a new, culturally relevant training initiative aimed at supporting employers in better understanding and fostering inclusive workplaces for Métis employees. This role will focus on developing meaningful training programs that address the barriers Métis workers face in recruitment, retention, and career advancement, while also providing essential guidance to non-Indigenous staff serving the Métis community.

Reporting to NIMA’s Executive Director, Jackie Lever, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with NIMA staff, Métis Knowledge Keepers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders across various sectors to ensure the curriculum is culturally authentic and effective.

This is a 91-week contract position, offering 30 hours per week with a starting wage of $35 per hour, negotiable based on experience. The position includes extended health and dental benefits as well as a pension plan and is available for an immediate start.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education, Training and Experience

Strong knowledge of Métis history, identity, and cultural practices.
Experience collaborating with Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, Elders, and community stakeholders.
Background in adult education, instructional design, or a related field is an asset.
Experience developing digital learning materials and familiarity with online learning platforms is a strong asset.
Strong research, writing, and content development skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Passionate about advancing Métis workforce inclusion and cultural awareness in professional settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment of existing Indigenous workplace training programs, with a specific focus on Métis content.
Design, develop, and implement a culturally appropriate curriculum covering topics such as:

Métis history, identity, and cultural practices; Workplace barriers, discrimination, and lateral violence; Strategies for fostering inclusivity and cultural awareness in professional settings.

Collaborate with Métis Knowledge Keepers, Elders, and industry stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and cultural integrity.
Develop engaging and interactive learning materials, including community story videos, quizzes, and real-world case studies.
Work closely with the Digital Learning Technology Coordinator to digitize course content and ensure a seamless online learning experience.
Conduct pilot sessions, collect feedback, and refine the curriculum based on participant experiences and evaluations.
Support the full implementation and launch of the training initiative, ensuring accessibility and long-term impact.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours – evening and weekend work may be required

Must provide a current Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector
