The Curriculum and Instruction Manager is responsible for shaping and enhancing Circuit Stream’s learning experiences by leading curriculum development, refining educational pedagogy, and ensuring high-quality instruction. This role focuses on designing impactful courses, training and supporting instructors, maintaining a dynamic curriculum, and overseeing course execution to ensure smooth and effective delivery.
Note: This role will be based full-time (5 days per week) in our Circuit Stream office, 1011, 1st Street SW.
Key Responsibilities:
- Refine and enhance Circuit Stream’s educational pedagogy and learning methodologies to drive strong learning outcomes and meet the needs of adult and youth learners.
- Design and develop engaging, effective curriculum, setting clear learning objectives and incorporating best practices in instructional design.
- Set instructional standards and ensure instructors implement curriculum effectively, adhering to teaching best practices and maintaining high engagement.
- Train new instructors and provide ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and instructional quality.
- Develop and track key success metrics to evaluate course effectiveness, instructional quality, and learner outcomes, aligning with pedagogical goals.
- Manage the D2L platform and curriculum roadmap, incorporating updates based on industry trends, student outcomes, instructor feedback, and engagement data for continuous improvement.
- Leverage insights from the CX team on student engagement and instructor performance to refine curriculum and teaching strategies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for instructors, providing guidance and ensuring quality control across course delivery.
- Plan schedules for courses and camps, ensuring classrooms, instructors, and tools are ready for successful execution.
- Oversee course delivery to ensure courses run smoothly, addressing issues related to curriculum implementation and instructor performance as they arise.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Admissions, Student Services, and Instruction) to align course content with organizational goals.
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education, instructional design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in instructional design and curriculum development, with expertise in Adult Learning Principles and secondary teaching practices for youth and teens. Preference for candidates with a strong understanding of learning objectives and pedagogical best practices across both secondary and post-secondary learning environments.
- Previous teaching experience in fields such as technology, sciences, mathematics, business, or related disciplines (adult and/or youth education) is desirable (please note that experience in ESL teaching alone is not sufficient for this role).
- Experience with hiring, training and managing instructors (some of whom are new to teaching).
- Proven ability to lead instructional design projects, coordinate course scheduling, and oversee successful course delivery.
- Experience managing learning platforms (D2L/Brightspace experience is a plus).
- Strong leadership and communication skills to guide instructors and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple curriculum projects, schedules, and course execution simultaneously.
- Comfortable with occasional travel in Canada if instructor training is planned in-person.
