Curbside Representative

Public Works Waste Management

Status : 2 Temporary Full Time Positions for a duration of 6 months

Compensation : $31.11 / hr - $38.89 / hr plus 6% in lieu of benefits

Work mode and Location: Onsite at 7795 Torbram Rd. Brampton ON

Hours of work : 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Working with the Waste Collection team and reporting to the Team Lead Inventory Control. The mandate is assisting residents in person by addressing correct curbside set-out times, days, types of containers, and acceptable materials.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Operate and maintain all assigned vehicles and equipment safely, following Occupational Health and Safety Act guidelines, and address hazards as needed.
  • Perform responsibilities safely, considering traffic safety, working near moving vehicles or machinery, and using all safety equipment, outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Provide on-road support for the Region of Peel's Bi-weekly Collection Program.
  • Repair assets in the field and educate residents about curbside programs and waste management issues.
  • Review and assess cart damages, update information in Salesforce, and track data in Excel.
  • Support residents with cart set-out issues and respond to escalated requests.
  • Document and report cart damage issues and complaints, and assist with inventory tracking and upkeep.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding of waste management and environmental education.
  • Confident in engaging with the public as a subject matter expert.
  • Valid G driver's license in good standing.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Salesforce software.

Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Excellent customer service, communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with proactive bias management.

Preferred Experience :

  • Experience operating trucks and trailers safely is an asset.
