Job summary

The York Catholic District School Board invites applications for a CUPE 2331 Temporary Lunchtime Supervisor at St. Nicholas, Newmarket. Schedule E wage is $24.08 per hour and the position runs 10 months with 5 hours per week. Start date is immediate.

Under supervision of the School Principal, the Lunchtime Supervisor ensures a safe, caring and inclusive lunch period, monitors students, reports incidents, and supports a positive school environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Less than high school graduation plus additional training or education.
• Experience: A minimum of one month of experience is required.
• Skills: Good communication, positive demeanor, confidentiality, ability to supervise multiple activities, experience with children, attend to physical needs.

• Supervise students indoors and outdoors and communicate concerns to the Principal.
• Monitor behavior and promote respect, kindness, and inclusivity.
• Report incidents of misconduct to the Principal or designate.
• Encourage and support appropriate play and monitor boundaries.
• Assist with emergency situations such as fire drills.
• Keep the teacher/principal informed of atypical situations.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.

Location: St. Nicholas, Newmarket

Please note that long term assignments may end at any time and as per Article 8.01e of the CUPE 2331 Collective Agreement, upon the Manager of Human Resources becoming aware of the return to work of the permanent employee, supply employees placed into long term assignments will be given advance notice of the termination of such assignment.

Position Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the School Principal, the Lunchtime Supervisor will monitor the students during the lunch break while promoting a safe, caring, positive and friendly environment.

Major Responsibilities:

• Supervise students indoors and outdoors and be aware of their whereabouts. Communicate any concerns to the School Principal.
• Monitor student behavior and promote positive interactions, encouraging respect, kindness, and inclusivity.
• Report incidents of misconduct to the Principal or designate.
• Encourage and support appropriate play, both indoors and outdoors. Be aware of any students attempting to leave the school premises or approaching areas that are out of bounds.
• Assist with emergency situations such as fire drills.
• Keep the teacher/principal informed of atypical situations.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.

The above position is posted in accordance with CUPE 2331 Collective Agreement Article 12.01. The salary will be as per placement on the Salary Grid of the current CUPE 2331 Collective Agreement.
