Job Title: Cultural Safety, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor (6 month term)

Here are a few ways you will make a difference:

  • Leading initiatives that help build cultural safety, diversity, equity and inclusion into all Northern workplaces under the WSCC jurisdiction.
  • Supporting all WSCC units in operationalizing cultural safety, diversity, equity and inclusion in programs and services for the benefit of external stakeholders.
  • Supporting Human Resources in the development and implementation of programs and initiative to ensure that the WSCC is a culturally safe, equitable and inclusive workplace.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to achieve strategic goals and objectives related to cultural safety, diversity, equity and inclusion.

What you bring to the role:

  • Completion of a diploma in Indigenous Studies or Social Sciences related discipline (such as Sociology, Political Science, Social Work, Community Development, etc.), with 5 years' experience and training developing and delivering programs, and/or working with Indigenous and inter-cultural organizations and diversity and inclusion focused organizations, or with diverse communities. Preference will be given to Indigenous Aboriginal candidates.
  • Extensive knowledge of the histories, culture, struggles and systemic barriers to success for people in the NT and NU from diverse backgrounds including Indigenous peoples, people living with disabilities, 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, language communities, racialized people, and women
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Beginner-intermediate level research and evaluation methods.
