Job description

Job Location: Moose Factory, Cochrane, or Timmins, Ontario

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Child and Family Well-Being, this position will be responsible for developing a Child and Family Well-Being Program that aligns with our members' needs. This program will require monthly programming with full budgets established for our membership. A department must be created for our children and youth, including a referral, data collection, and inputting system to safeguard Moose Cree First Nation as we transition to taking jurisdiction over our children and youth. A holistic approach must be designed for our families, with programming developed for our members that will be posted monthly and data collected at the end of each program. A circle of care must be created for the Cultural Helpers who will assist families in addressing family issues or reintegration with children and family planning.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Post Secondary Education in Social Work (SSW, BSW), with knowledge or a background in Business Administration for Infrastructure and Policy building preferred.
  • Knowledge of building and organizing a new organization with a new law preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in building capacity for programming.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience, including budgeting and reporting.
  • SSW, BSW, Business Administration, or 5 years of management experience within a Child and Family Well-Being environment.
  • Experience working within a First Nation is an asset; Moose Cree preferred.
  • Familiarity with legislation: Bill C-92 and Moose Cree First Nation’s law development process.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent coordination and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to foster collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of the Child, Youth, and Family Services Act.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of the culture of the community served.
  • Fluency in the Moose Cree language is an asset.
  • Background in business and financial management.
  • Capable of providing reports to the Director, committee, and Chief and Council as required.
  • Proven ability to build effective teams and collaborate in various capacities.
  • “G” Driver’s license is required.

Duration: Permanent with 3 months’ probation
