Job summary

Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Service Center in LaSalle is seeking a cultural educational advisor to lead pedagogical initiatives and support school teams in implementing a cultural approach within the updated French program.

You will develop partnerships with Montreal cultural organizations, manage funding processes for cultural measures, and help organize major events such as the 4 Arts Symposium, while ensuring alignment with CSSMB policies.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in education sciences or cultural action.
• Valid teaching certificate or authorization issued by the Quebec Ministry of Education (an asset).
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in the Quebec school network (an asset).
• Proven experience in pedagogical support or in facilitating cultural committees/projects (an asset).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and coordinate CSSMB cultural committee work with partners.
• Update, deploy, and promote the CSSMB cultural policy.
• Manage budgets for cultural initiatives and measures.
• Plan, write, and disseminate communications for funding programs (Culture in School, CGTSIM, etc.).
• Maintain and promote the directory of cultural outings and activities for students and families.
• Support schools in developing cultural projects and funding applications.
• Analyze funding requests and follow up with communities; oversee grant transfers.
• Coordinate partnerships with cultural and community organizations for projects.
• Support Culture+ committees and organize the 4 Arts Symposium.
• Ensure deployment of Inspiring School measures and participate in cultures in school discussions.
• Coordinate OSEntreprendre projects within CSSMB and foster collaborations.

Job description

Schedule: 35 h / week

Working hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to noon, and from 1 PM to 4:30 PM

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Educational Resources Service, the cultural educational advisor plays a pedagogical and institutional leadership role. The person supports school teams and educational advisors in implementing the cultural approach, deploying the CSSMB's cultural policy, and integrating the cultural components of the updated French program. Additionally, they develop and support dynamic partnerships with the Montreal cultural community and actively engage in organizing large-scale events such as the 4 Arts Symposium.

Main tasks:

• Facilitate and coordinate the work of the CSSMB cultural committee in collaboration with various partners;

• Ensure the updating, deployment, and promotion of the CSSMB cultural policy;

• Administer and monitor budgets associated with various cultural measures and initiatives;

• Plan, write, and disseminate communications related to funding programs in culture, notably Culture in School (components 1, 2, and 3), CGTSIM, A School Welcomes an Artist, Quebec Culture, and other related measures;

• Keep up to date and promote the directory of cultural outings and cultural activities for students and families;

• Support school teams in developing cultural projects and preparing funding applications;

• Analyze financial support requests, formulate appropriate recommendations, ensure follow-ups with the communities, and oversee the transfer of granted funding;

• Coordinate, in collaboration with other concerned educational advisors, partnership projects with cultural and community organizations (Orchestre Métropolitain, MBAM, School of Humor, Les préludes à l’OM, etc.);

• Support schools in creating, animating, and sustaining Culture+ committees;

• Contribute to the organization of the 4 Arts Symposium, notably by seeking partners and coordinating various activities;

• Ensure the follow-up and deployment of the Inspiring School measure;

• Participate in communities of practice and consultations regarding cultural benchmarks and their integration into learning;

• Coordinate the management and development of OSEntreprendre projects within the CSSMB;

• Develop and maintain collaborations with community, institutional, and cultural partners, particularly in the context of artistic and cultural projects in schools;

• Design and develop tools, resources, and guides that facilitate the implementation of the updated French program;

• Support educational advisors and teaching staff in the appropriation and integration of the cultural approach in the classroom;

• Identify, design, and offer training that promotes the development of skills related to the cultural approach and artistic education;

• Respond to the consultation and support needs of schools regarding issues of culture in school and associated programs.

Requirements

1. Education and experience

• Undergraduate degree in an appropriate field of specialization, notably in education sciences or cultural action.

• Valid teaching certificate or authorization issued by the Quebec Ministry of Education (an asset)

• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in the Quebec school network (an asset)

• Proven experience in pedagogical support or in facilitating cultural committees/projects (an asset).

2. Required knowledge and expertise (assets)

• Professional competency framework for the teaching profession: In-depth mastery of Competency 1 (Acting as a mediator of cultural elements).

• PFEQ: Detailed knowledge of the updated French program and the integration of the cultural dimension in school.

• Ministerial framework and policy: Mastery of ministerial orientations in culture-education (Culture in School, functioning of school cultural committees, cultural policies).

• Cultural ecosystem: Excellent knowledge of networks, organizations, distributors, and artistic and cultural stakeholders in the Montreal area.

3. Skills and professional posture

• Pedagogical and unifying leadership: Ability to positively influence and mobilize school stakeholders (administration, educational advisors, teachers across all disciplines) around the cultural approach.

• Partnership and networking: High communication, negotiation, and networking skills with external organizations.

• Project management and event planning: Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and organize major events (e.g., 4 Arts Symposium).

• Design and facilitation: Ability to create engaging training and develop "turnkey" educational tools.

4. Specific requirements

• Ability to travel within the territory of the school service center (CSSMB).

• Proof of passing the French test SEL or CÉFRANC or TECFÉE or the enriched French exam of the CSSMB within three months of hiring at the latest.
