Job description

Then we have a position for you!PURPLEFARM is one of Canada’s premier craft cannabis producers. Coming from the legacy market, PURPLEFARM currently operates a 12,000 sq ft facility out of Johnstown, Ontario and has expanded into Fredericton, New Brunswick to operate a 90,000 sq ft facility.

As a Cultivation Technician at PURPLEFARM, you will be responsible for performing essential cultivation and production tasks in line with Good Production Practices (GPP) while supporting the overall operations of the cultivation facility. You will work under the supervision of the Senior Cultivation Technician and report to the Master Grower. Your role is critical in maintaining the quality and efficiency of plant production, adhering to regulatory standards, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the cultivation process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Cultivation & Production Tasks
    • Perform key cultivation tasks such as irrigation/fertigation, cloning, transplanting, topping, defoliation, flushing, trimming, packaging, and waste disposal
    • Operate and manage irrigation system platforms (e.g., Dosatron)
    • Support plant production protocol development and nutrient regimen maintenance
    • Ensure adherence to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain compliance with Health Canada and other regulatory bodies
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Adhere to and train staff on Standard Operating Procedures for Good Production Practices (GPP)
    • Ensure staff compliance with SOPs to maintain product integrity and regulatory standards
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following sanitation protocols as outlined in SOPs
    • Report concerns regarding security and product loss promptly
  • Equipment & Troubleshooting
    • Support onsite troubleshooting and maintenance of critical equipment (HVAC, Irrigation, Water treatment systems)
    • Ensure optimal equipment uptime and perform preventative and corrective maintenance, ensuring no hazards to product quality
    • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to determine causes and solutions
  • Project Management & Facility Maintenance
    • Assist with construction project management and oversee tasks such as carpentry, electrical work, painting, plumbing, HVAC maintenance, etc.
    • Work with the team to continuously improve maintenance safety standards and procedures
    • Schedule, assign, and oversee duties related to facility maintenance and ensure that tasks are carried out efficiently
  • Security & Inspections
    • Maintain and ensure security measures are followed
    • Assist with facility inspections and ensure all records are available for expedient review
    • Report product loss or security breaches promptly
  • Other Duties: Perform any other duties as required by the Master Grower, Senior Cultivation Technician, or senior management

Qualifications:

  • High School Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of cultivation practices and plant care
  • Ability to follow SOPs and regulatory compliance standards
  • Experience with equipment operation and maintenance (HVAC, irrigation, water treatment)
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Horticulture experience is considered an asset

Position:

  • Overtime is required during peak times and to meet deadlines
  • Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Master Grower and works under daily supervision by the Sr. Cultivation Technician.
