Job summary

Ottawa Police Service is hiring Police Officers to join a dedicated team serving Ottawa. This full-time permanent role offers an intake aligned with Ontario Police College training dates and a salary range of $83,994.40 to $123,521.17 annually, effective July 1, 2026.

Successful candidates must meet the minimum hiring standards, hold a valid G license, and possess PREP certification, high school diploma, and pass security and background checks. Applications close 16/11/2026.

Qualifications

• Must be Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successfully completed a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a valid full G Ontario Driver's License or Provincial Equivalent.
• Be of good moral character.
• Valid PREP certification (physical readiness evaluation for police) required at application.
• Adhere to the minimum standard of hearing and vision requirements.
• Be able to pass a security clearance as well as a background investigation, credit and reference check.
• Complete Standard First Aid and CPR-C prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 24/7 shift schedule to meet operational requirements.
• Maintain safety and security in the community as part of a sworn police team.

Posting Details

Effort and Working Conditions

This position will require officers to work in adverse weather and uncomfortable conditions. It can require officers to sit or stand for long periods of time without relief.

Hours of Work

Must be able to work all shifts as designated in the hours of work section.

The incumbent is required to work hours commensurate with a 24 / 7 shift schedule in order to meet operational requirements of the section, between days, afternoons, evenings and/or nights (including Statutory Holidays).
