Position Overview

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer performs first and second line aircraft maintenance on the Cormorant Helicopter to support Canadian Search and Rescue operations. Responsibilities include servicing, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, flight testing, and certification of aircraft mechanical, structural, electrical systems, components, and ground support equipment.

What You Will Do
  1. Perform First and Second Level maintenance on aircraft systems and components, and ground support equipment.
  2. Support ramp duties such as pre/post flight inspection, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling, and installation/removal of mission equipment, including crash and salvage response.
  3. Perform ground runs of auxiliary power units, where qualified and authorized.
  4. Support maintenance, ferry, and deployment operations through flying as necessary.
  5. Travel and work at other bases, support remote deployments, and participate in mobile repair parties and ferry flights.
  6. Provide on-the-job training to colleagues.
  7. Attend training for trade and personnel development, qualifications, recertification, and authorization.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by sweeping and cleaning hangar, shop, stores, and office areas.
  9. Follow company policies, procedures, and directives.
  10. Supervise other employees as required.
  11. Perform additional tasks as needed.
What You Will Bring
  1. Graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance course or apprenticeship, holding a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or equivalent qualification (e.g., Canadian Armed Forces or commercial experience).
  2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in aviation maintenance.
  3. Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, including power plants, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental systems, structures, and power distribution.
  4. Experience with special tools and equipment, corrosion control techniques, and reading/interpreting technical documentation.
  5. Ability to perform Non-destructive Inspection.
  6. Proficiency with standard computer programs and specialized software as needed.
  7. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, with capability to operate support vehicles.
