Position Overview
The Stores Controller will report to the CSH Department at IMP Aerospace and Defence, located near Halifax International Airport.
What You Will Do
- Complete shipping and receiving documentation, verify and trace incoming and outgoing parts, supplies, and materials.
- Package items for outgoing shipments, affix identifying information, and shipping instructions.
- Receive, sort, and issue/route incoming parts and supplies.
- Pick and prepare transfers to MOBs and internal production teams.
- Process incoming requisitions and distribute parts/supplies.
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or documents, record shortages, and reject damaged goods.
- Count stock, investigate stock discrepancies, and review stock levels for adjustments and approvals.
- Move materials through operations as directed by management or lead hand.
- Research and collect data, input data, and produce reports, including computer-generated reports.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the warehouse and adjacent areas.
- Prepare material transaction vouchers and other logistics documents, and maintain records.
- Set up cutting tools/equipment and distribute materials for production.
- Operate trucks, forklifts, and other machinery used in material handling.
- Assist and train other personnel in the Stores Controller role.
- Perform other duties as directed by management.
What You Will Bring
- Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent, with related training and experience.
- Forklift Operator certification or ability to obtain it.
- At least two years of experience in inventory control, preferably in a warehouse.
- Physical ability to perform the role.
- Knowledge of inventory control methods, manuals, and computerized record systems.
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
- Proficiency in computer software relevant to the position.
- Basic knowledge of WHMIS regulations and shipping regulations.
- Valid provincial driver’s license.
- Good attendance and performance records.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment, tools, and vehicles as required.
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Participation in continuous improvement activities.
- Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Secret Level II Security Clearance, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
