This position is part of the Rotary and Mission Systems business area, where employees across Canada support engineering, systems integration, training, sustainment and in-service support programs for Canadian and international military customers across land, air and sea.
Specific Job Description:
The Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Supportability Cross Product Team (CPT) Lead is an operational and strategic role responsible for leading and overseeing the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) analysis for the new River Class Destroyer (RCD). This includes leading the technical team while working alongside key stakeholders and subcontractors to ensure that delivered Supportability solutions meet the high standards and specific needs of the Customer.
This position will report technically to the Supportability Program Manager (PM) and functionally to the ILS Functional Manager. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader and dynamic manager who will personally invest their energy and focus on successfully delivering the Supportability solution to Government of Canada (CANADA), possessing a deep understanding of ILS and the ability to deliver cost effectiveness to the new RCD.
Required skills, qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an Education-related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with nine years of professional experience, or 7 years of professional experience with a related master’s degree in conducting/managing Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for large Design and Build (DAB) programs
- Strong technical background as a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the Logistics and Sustainment Engineering Disciplines (Reliability, Maintainability, Integrated Logistic Support, Provisioning, Maintenance, and/or Design for Supportability)
- Experience in managing technical work across a diverse team of Sustainment professionals and the advancement of the Support concept
- Excellent technical communication skills to support regular internal and external engagement
- Ability to summarize and action staffing requirements with functional managers to identify, grow and position skilled professionals to complete technical work
- Experience in requirements compliance verification
- Experience in leading, developing and delivering Supportability products (Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA), Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Centred Maintenance Analysis (RCMA), Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Sparing, Logistics Support Analysis Record (LSAR), Obsolescence)
- Experience in performing the role of Control Account Manager (CAM) and familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) processes
- Experience managing a complex and evolving schedule involving multiple stakeholders and subcontractors
- Aptitude for solving challenging problems within a demanding and changing scope of supply
- Ability to participate, contribute and brief key stakeholders/partners/subcontractors across a multitude of discipline-focused working groups, as well as program and governance meetings to resolve issues, adjudicate misalignments and provide advice, mitigate risk, maintain schedule and deliver quality products that meet or exceed requirements
- Ability to effectively plan, employ AGILE workflow processes, delegate tasks and status work to meet defined program milestones
- Ability to understand and continually confirm the long-term vision of delivering the overall Support concept for the CSC program.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience:
- Familiarity with ship platforms such as the Halifax Class Frigate or similar
- Familiarity with maritime Combat Systems, including Radars, Combat Management Systems, Communications, Weapons, Navigation, Electronic Warfare
- Familiarity with Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), JIRA, Windchill, Confluence and Microsoft Office
- Agile Scrum Master and Product Owner experience
- Detailed understanding of emerging technology, standards and software for logistics product and service solutions
- Familiarity with 1LMX digital transformation and related supportability/sustainment tools
- Understanding of the Military Standard (MIL-STD), Global Emissions Initiative (GEIA) and S-Series of Integrated Logistics Support Specifications
- Strong project management skills to oversee the entire lifecycle of the RCD
- Collaborative spirit to work effectively with and across other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and stakeholders
- Innovative thinking to bring new ideas and improvements to the program
- Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset
- Adaptability to respond to changing requirements and integrate new technologies.
