Job summary

Kinectrics is seeking a Cryogenics Engineer for its Nuclear Equipment Solutions team in Toronto. This permanent, intermediate-level role reports to the Director, Nuclear Equipment and Tooling Process and requires 6+ years in cryogenic engineering.

The position offers a 37.5-hour week and a starting salary range of CAD 120,000–CAD 145,000, with multiple benefits and a security clearance process. Based at 800 Kipling Avenue, the role emphasizes design, testing, commissioning, and system

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Cryogenic, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
• 6+ years of cryogenic engineering experience including design, commissioning, operation, and optimization.
• Strong foundation in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, mechanical design and cryogenic principles.
• Experience performing process modeling, heat and mass balance calculations, cryogenic cycle analysis, and equipment sizing.
• Hands-on experience supporting fabrication, assembly, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and operation of cryogenic facilities and equipment.
• Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, analyze, test, commission, and optimize cryogenic systems and equipment, including liquefiers, refrigerators, cryogenic distillation columns, storage vessels, transfer lines, dewars, and vacuum-insulated systems.
• Support system testing, troubleshooting, optimizations, operations, and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with vendors and fabrication teams on material selection, welding quality, and pressure vessel compliance.
• Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, heat and mass balances, and cryogenic cycle analyses.
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses and safety reviews (HAZOPs/LOPAs) ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
