ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Aggregates superintendent, the Crusher/Wash Plant Operator is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, and coordinating with crushing or washing crews, truckers, QC, and sub-contractors. The Crusher/Wash Plant Operator is also responsible for ensuring high-quality material is produced to required specifications, completed safely, on time, on budget, and in compliance with mining and environmental regulations. Our Aggregates operations are in Central Alberta.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Safely operate and perform routine maintenance.
- Control conveyors, panel boards, pumps, gauges, and dials to ensure maximum efficiency and consistency of materials being generated.
- Create and foster a positive work culture, and set clear expectations of crews for safety and production.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and lead by example.
- Schedule running and major repair work on crusher, screeners, loaders, and all other pit-related equipment.
- Endeavor to maximize equipment and tool purpose as well as confirm equipment and tools are in compliant working condition.
- Maintain a clean and efficient crushing operation and work environment.
- Ensure mining and environmental standards are met and adhered to from both the applicable governing bodies and Lafarge requirements.
- Responsible for accurate and timely entry of labour, equipment, and production information.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma
Required Work Experience:At least 2 years of experience with a variety of crushing and mining equipment
Required Training/Certifications: Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
Required Technical Skills: Mechanically-inclined
Travel Requirements: in and around Central Alberta
Additional Requirements:
- Strong familiarity with crushers and/or wash plants, screeners, conveyors, loaders and other associated Aggregate and or mobile heavy equipment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be willing to work in adverse weather, possibly night shift and out of town work, overtime and weekends if required. Job involves shift work and weekend work throughout the year.
- Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflict and interpersonal issues of the crew.
- Good communication skills and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
