Job description

LaPrairie Works Inc - Camp Labourer – Crusher Crew

LaPrairie Works Inc., a leader in highway and bridge maintenance and civil construction in Alberta, is hiring a Camp Labourer – Crusher Crew to join our new concrete and aggregate division in Slave Lake, Alberta.

The Camp Labourer is responsible for assisting the Crusher Crew with maintaining heavy and crushing equipment safely and efficiently to meet daily production targets, while ensuring full compliance with safety and operating procedures.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure safe work operations and full compliance with operating procedures.
  2. Receive instructions from the site foreman regarding daily tasks.
  3. Pick up fallen rocks from the crusher area using a shovel.
  4. Assist in debris cleanup and disposal.
  5. Support other workers with cleanup and maintenance tasks.
  6. Maintain the area and yard cleanliness.
  7. Assist in equipment maintenance and proper parking of equipment.
  8. Conduct walk-around inspections to identify defects and report issues.
  9. Ensure equipment is clean and free of debris; remove garbage after use.
  10. Perform pre- and post-inspection checks and maintain accurate logs.
  11. Assist with fueling and fluid level checks, reporting quantities in logs.
  12. Maintain good housekeeping practices at worksites and on equipment.
  13. Prepare and submit daily reports.
  14. Perform manual labor as required by operational needs.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience operating heavy and crushing equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of aggregate crushing equipment such as jaw and cone crushers is an asset.
  • Understanding of heavy equipment maintenance practices.
  • Physically capable of manual labor and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations.
