Job summary

Public Prosecutions' Regina Prosecution Office is seeking a Crown Counsel Assistant (CCA) to join the Case Readiness Unit in Regina.

Reporting to the Regional Crown Prosecutor, you will review files for completeness, coordinate disclosure, and ensure timely preparation of materials for prosecution. This role requires solid knowledge of the Criminal Code and privacy laws, with strong communication skills to interact with prosecutors, police, and victims.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of criminal law, legal terminology, the Criminal Code of Canada, and the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
• Ability to assess whether investigative files contain the evidence required to support criminal charges.
• Interpret and apply Public Prosecutions policies, including information management, disclosure, and privacy.
• Knowledge of legislative obligations such as FOIP and privacy laws and related case law.

Responsibilities

• Review files for completeness and identify outstanding materials for disclosure.
• Coordinate with police agencies to obtain missing disclosure and maintain diarization and file-tracking systems.
• Liaise with prosecutors, defence counsel, and justice system partners to ensure timely prosecution readiness.
