Job summary

Job description

The Burnaby School District is seeking to hire Casual Crossing Guards to support student safety across the district on an on-call basis.

This role involves building trust and respect with students, modeling proper behavior, and enforcing safety rules. The primary responsibility is to assist students arriving at and leaving school.

Applicants must have:

• Grade 12 education
• Experience working with children and/or adolescents
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Conflict resolution or nonviolent crisis intervention training (assets)
• Previous experience as a crossing guard or traffic flagger (assets)
• Knowledge of traffic safety (required)

This position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions and the ability to stand or walk for a one-hour shift.

Successful candidates should be able to build positive relationships, influence behaviors, and resolve conflicts based on prior experience with children.

This position pays $27.12 per hour.
