Job summary

Laidlaw Carriers Van in Halifax, NS seeks experienced Class 1/AZ highway owner-operators for Dry Van freight across Canada and the U.S. 24/7 operations; drivers are on the road 7–10 days at a time.

Based in Halifax with flexibility to live in most places in the Atlantic provinces and Ontario; must travel into the United States regularly and maintain logs, logs, and cross-border compliance while prioritizing safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Valid AZ licence or Class 1
• Requirements are flexible and approved at divisional level.
• Minimum 2 years of verified Canada/USA driving experience
• Clean CVOR and Driver’s Abstract
• Clean criminal record check
• Must be willing and able to travel into the United States regularly
• Comfortable being out in the truck 7–10 consecutive days per week
• FAST Card preferred

Responsibilities

• Haul freight between Canada and the U.S.
• Follow all safety, compliance, and cross-border regulations
• Complete dispatch-assigned work efficiently and professionally
• Maintain accurate logs and required documentation
