Job summary

Colliers in Toronto seeks a Building Operator for the TRDC Data Centre at Royal Bank Plaza. You’ll ensure uptime of critical systems, monitor BAS, UPS, electrical and mechanical equipment, and support daily operations on a Continental shift schedule.

The role requires 2–5 years in electrical or HVAC roles, a Power Engineer certificate, and strong problem-solving and communication skills to support Capital Markets staff and maintain 100% uptime.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years’ experience in Electrician or HVAC Technician roles.
• 2–5 years in a Data Centre environment.
• Power Engineer certificate (BES 1&2 or 4th Class).
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and action-planning abilities.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Control Centre, UPS, BAS, Plant Mechanical, Water Treatment, Fire Alarm, Electrical, and EPGS for TRDC Critical Systems.
• Daily monitoring, inspections, data recording and maintenance of all Critical Systems for TRDC.
• Understand SOPs and EOPs for TRDC Critical Systems and escalate as needed.
• React to emergencies by following SOPs/EOPs and perform corrective actions.
• Rectify anomalies with temperature setpoints and mode changes for cooling; perform monthly testing.
• Provide exemplary service to Capital Markets Trading Floor staff.
• Read blueprints and Single-Line Diagrams for TRDC; communicate clearly via email.
• Maintain uptime and operate safely with proper PPE during electrical work.
