Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer (CEIE)

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) powers our cloud services. As a CO+I CEIE, you will play a key role in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. Responsibilities
  • Maintain Industrial Controls System (ICS) availability, data quality, service and change management, reporting, and security in Data Centers.
  • Manage site-level ICS programs and projects, overseeing global initiatives related to ICS systems.
  • Service and govern Microsoft’s electrical and mechanical ICS, including servers, applications, networks, and device infrastructure within datacenters.
  • Control logical and physical access, approvals, and permissions for ICS systems, networks, workstations, and servers.
  • Promote safety and security in datacenter operations by complying with safety programs and completing assessments.
  • Develop positive relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or related field, plus 2+ years of relevant experience in network, service, or systems engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 1.5+ years experience in designing, commissioning, or constructing ICS in datacenter environments, including Modbus and BACnet protocols.
  • 2+ years experience with electrical systems (power distribution, grounding, fire alarms) and mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water, refrigerants).
Other Requirements

This role requires passing security screenings, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check and, for Canadian candidates, a Reliability Status security screening.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience managing mission-critical infrastructure projects in 24/7 environments.
  • Project management skills, especially with agile methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical documents.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), and Battery Monitoring Systems (BMS).
