Job summary

The Sunnybrook Registered Nurse in the Critical Care Unit collaborates with the health care team, patient and family to deliver evidence-based, patient-focused care for critically ill individuals. This role emphasizes assessment, intervention, education and advocacy under the College of Nurses of Ontario standards.

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the RN demonstrates strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork in a high-acuity environment.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• Current BCLS certificate.
• ACLS certificate preferred.
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
• CrCU(C) an asset.
• Two-to-three years clinical experience in specialty area preferred.
• Critical Care Certificate essential in lieu of related critical care experience.
• CrCU entrance quiz completed.
• Commitment to continuing education within the past 2 years with emphasis on critical care.

Responsibilities

• Assessment, intervention, education and patient advocacy for critically ill patients.
• Collaboration with health care team, patient and family.
• Adherence to Patient-Focused Care principles and Sunnybrook Mission and Values.
• Practice within the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
