Critical Care & Aeromedical Transport Education Manager

Reporting to the Director, Learning and Development, the Critical Care & Aeromedical Transport Education Manager is a key leadership role responsible for promoting excellence in education and practice within the complex operational context of critical care, aviation, inter-facility transfer, and special circumstances.

This position ensures BCEHS meets its mandate to provide reliable, accessible, high-quality out-of-hospital and inter-facility care. It supports learners and clinical staff in developing and maintaining skills and education necessary for effective, evidence-based care across modalities.

What you'll do

The manager will develop curricula, education programs, systems of practice education, and clinical governance structures supporting continuous clinical improvement aligned with the Quintuple Aim. They will lead knowledge translation from theory to practice, ensuring education programs are evidence-based, high-quality, and supported by available technologies and resources.

As a clinical leader, they will collaborate with various stakeholders inside and outside BCEHS, including educators, regulators, licensing boards, educational institutions, and clinical leaders. They will identify desired practice outcomes, develop and implement work plans, supervise educational programs, and lead practice education and project teams.

This role functions as a systems leader, providing leadership, consultation, and direction for practice education across clinical license levels within BCEHS, including paramedics, nurses, and physicians. It involves liaising with clinicians, leaders, stakeholders, and representing BCEHS at provincial, national, and international forums.

What you bring

A master’s degree in Education (Adult Education, Education Leadership), Advanced Clinical Practice, Critical Care, or a related field, plus seven (7) years of clinical experience in health or pre-hospital care.

  • Recent experience in critical care within an aeromedical transport environment.
  • Possession or eligibility for licensure with the EMALB of BC or relevant regulated health profession.
  • Ability to design and implement advanced practice learning programs, curricula, and evaluation plans.
  • Experience in diverse educational delivery formats, including distance technologies.
  • Project planning and management skills, with the ability to work clinically in aeromedical and critical care settings.
  • Leadership skills to guide experienced staff and discuss governance, patient safety, and practice education issues with senior staff and external agencies.

Additional Skills and Knowledge :

  • Understanding of and commitment to the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, and MMIWG calls for justice, including their intersection with healthcare.
  • Support for team members’ learning journeys, ensuring education strategies incorporate Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Collaboration with Indigenous teams to holistically apply ICS principles.
  • Commitment to reconciliation efforts in line with TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical factors affecting Indigenous communities, and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
