Job summary

Primary Care Alberta is seeking a Mental Health Therapist Prov for the Addiction & Mental Health Helpline in Calgary. You will remotely triage calls, deliver evidence-informed crisis interventions, and connect callers with referrals and urgent services as needed, while working as part of Health Link.

You will assess risk, provide brief interventions, and support colleagues, with a 0.60 FTE schedule and rotations including days/nights/weekends within a multi-site provincial program.

Qualifications

• Master's level education in psychology, social work, occupational therapy or nursing with mental health training.
• Registered or eligible under Alberta Health Professions Act.
• 3–5 years frontline addiction and mental health experience recommended.
• Strong crisis intervention, risk assessment and teletriage skills.

Responsibilities

• Triage addiction and mental health calls with information and support.
• Assess risk, de-escalate crises, including suicidality or violence.
• Provide brief interventions and tele-triage guidance over the phone.
• Coordinate referrals and connect callers to urgent services as needed.
• Support on-shift colleagues and participate in supervision and QA activities.
• Handle administrative duties and shift-exchange processes.
