Job description and responsibilities:

As a crisis support worker, the role is to

  • Provide warmth and empathy to our users in crisis.
  • De-escalate imminent risk conversations (suicide, etc.)
  • Work collaboratively with the Texting Supervision team to support users involved in emergencies, where mandatory reporting is necessary, etc. .
  • Multitask by providing our service to multiple users at once (5 on average) in order to reduce overnight wait times.

Profile:

  • 1+ year of crisis intervention work experience
  • Proven ability to thrive and find multitasking energizing
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure while maintaining professionalism and maturity
  • Consistently exhibits effective and constructive communication
  • Understanding of quality improvement and quality assurance processes.

As a Crisis Support Worker, you will work closely with Texting Supervisors to provide support and de-escalation to people in crisis via a text-based service. Your role will be to work during overnight hours to ensure young people and adults reaching out get the care and support their need. You will provide punctual support consistent with the program’s expectations, while collaborating with Texting Supervisors on any necessary external intervention. You will provide a high quality service when supporting our texters, while adhering to clinical policies and procedures.
