Criminal Law Clerk – (downtown Toronto) 100% Remote
Job description
Our client is a bustling boutique Law firm located in downtown Toronto focusing on criminal, civil and family law litigation. They are seeking a dynamic and driven professional with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Criminal law to join their team.
Your new role
In this position, you will take on a variety of key responsibilities. These include preparing and submitting materials to the Court, Crown, and jail, as well as coordinating court appearances and meetings within the firm’s calendar. You will handle accounts compliance calls, ensuring that payments are secured from clients, and work closely with lawyers to support their day-to-day and weekly tasks. Additional duties include drafting legal documents like notices of application, judges’ orders, and designations, while also liaising with jail facilities to arrange in-person, video, and phone visits. As issues arise, you will manage written communication with the jail and maintain an organized filing system for client documents.
What you will need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you should have at least two years of experience in a similar position, preferably within criminal law. We’re looking for a team player who thrives in a dynamic environment, collaborating with a diverse group while also working independently. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
