Job description

Our Policing Support Services Department is looking for a dedicated Crime Analyzer to join the team.
Position Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the Policing Support Services Department and collaborating closely with police officers, you will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and disseminating information and recommendations related to both emerging and ongoing crime patterns and trends, with the aim of forecasting future crime incidents. You must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse individuals and teams. Additionally, you will support criminal investigations to enhance patrol deployment, reduce crime, and assist in the apprehension of suspects.

As a Crime Analyst You Will Be Responsible For
  • Determining, designing and developing data collection strategies, techniques and methods used in the intelligence process by researching, evaluating, interpreting, and analyzing information to identify criminal trends and patterns and to develop tactical, operational and strategic intelligence products.
  • Identifying and/or illustrating associations, criminal trends, patterns, series and behaviours and locating intelligence gaps to influence and guide in setting operational priorities, resource allocation and direction to the investigation team leaders and management and contribute to the implementation of crime reduction strategies.
  • Providing expert advice on complex criminal investigations, assessing intelligence and providing tactical, operational and strategic analysis for judicial purposes, including providing expert witness testimony in court.
  • Establishing a network of internal and external contacts in identifying criminal trends, exchanging information and criminal intelligence.
  • Communicating analytical findings.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Criminology or a related social sciences field of study
Experience
  • Using office technology, software and applications (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Researching, writing and analyzing
  • Working with policing policies and procedures would be considered an asset

Please Note
  • Applicants will be required to complete and pass a practical exam relevant to the duties of a Crime Analyst.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who currently possess a RCMP Security Clearance.
Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 37.5 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation

Starting Salary $45.21 - $58.43 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
