Crew Lead

Job Description

A ServiceMaster Crew Lead is responsible for entering, leading, and working on job sites affected by flooding, fires, mold, and sewer backup. Employees perform duties in homes, businesses, and government buildings impacted by emergency situations. Out-of-town work may be required for large losses and catastrophic events. Must be available for on-call shifts as scheduled.

Job Duties :

  1. Lead and collaborate with technicians on the emergency response team to attend losses such as flooding, sewer backup, fire, and wind.
  2. Confirm scope of work with the Project Manager and/or Mitigation Manager.
  3. Obtain sign-off from homeowners or authorized personnel on work authorization.
  4. Manage questions from homeowners and business owners professionally and calmly.
  5. Ensure safety at each worksite by conducting safety meetings, performing hazard assessments, and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Codes and company policies, including all personnel on site.
  6. Photograph and video work sites before, during, and after emergency work, especially pre-existing damage.
  7. Document water readings (Daily Psychometric Readings) at every loss.
  8. Submit accurate timesheets daily, reviewing all paperwork for accuracy before submission.
  9. Complete necessary forms such as Work Authorization, Daily Psychometric Readings, Equipment Activity Reports, and Job Hazard Assessments after each emergency.
  10. Report job status to the Mitigation or Project Manager daily, maintaining ongoing communication about any changes or concerns.
  11. Collect applicable samples for the Project Manager, including asbestos samples when necessary, with asbestos awareness training.
  12. Conduct vehicle maintenance and keep vehicles clean and organized.
  13. Implement standard protocols for water remediation, mold, asbestos, and contents handling based on the type of loss.
  14. Possess a valid G driver’s license.

Key Competencies :

  1. Pride in quality control and efficient procedures.
  2. Mentor and guide technicians in loss mitigation.
  3. Set quality standards for the crew to follow.
  4. Determine equipment and supplies needed for each loss.
  5. Ensure high standards of client care and service.
  6. Safely mix and apply chemicals according to manufacturer’s specifications and WHMIS.
  7. Promote good housekeeping to ensure safe, organized worksites.
  8. Maintain a complete, inventoried set of tools, with basic carpentry skills and tool knowledge.
  9. Wear appropriate PPE and company attire at all times.
  10. Minimum of 1 year of direct disaster restoration experience related to fire or water loss.
  11. Strong leadership and communication skills.
  12. Proficient in demolition, tear-outs, and construction terminology.
  13. Remain calm in stressful and chaotic situations.
  14. Properly operate equipment such as dehumidifiers, truck mounts, and air scrubbers.

Educational Requirements : An IICRC Certification is required.
