Job description

Position Summary

Pipefitter Crew Forepersons are responsible for providing direction and on-site leadership to their assigned labourers while finding ways to continuously improve the production processes, procedures, and equipment.

Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, treating others with dignity, respect, and fairness.

PROJECT/POSITION DETAILS

Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station

Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project)

Shift: 14 Days on/7 Days off

Travel pay: $400/shift

Camp retention: $25/day

Core Accountabilities
  • Operate 2-5 ton picker trucks, telehandlers, skid steers, and AWPs
  • Participate in daily Toolbox Meetings
  • Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews
  • Complete Task Hazard Assessments, Drivers Logs, and review Job Site Assessments
  • Manage and maintain client relationships
  • Apply project procedures, work site policies and collective agreement requirements
  • Ensure quality and inspection of installation
  • Complete quality reports and required statistics
  • Inform the superintendent of any out-of-scope work
  • Move equipment and materials between sites
  • Load and unload construction materials and equipment for transporting to work locations, following applicable safety securement protocols
  • Communicate work progress and safety performance to the site supervisor
  • Maintain all equipment and tools in good and safe working condition and report any findings to the lead hand
  • Manage and perform general housekeeping and daily clean-up of work areas
  • Lead crews and ensure safe execution of work scopes related to Mechanical/ Pipefitting
  • Must be experienced in Rigging of spools, steel, pumps, etc.
  • Teach, mentor and guide crews
Qualifications
Education
  • Must possess a valid Pipefitter Journeyperson certificate from the appropriate provincial or federal authority
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Must be willing to travel to site
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors
Safety Tickets Required
  • CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1) Training Certificate
  • WHIMIS 2015 (Strike can provide when onboarding)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide when onboarding)
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Arial Work Platform Training
