Job summary

Frontier School Division in Manitoba is hiring a Cree Language Teacher for West Lynn Heights School in Lynn Lake. This permanent, 1.0 FTE position starts as soon as possible, with responsibilities spanning Kindergarten to Grade 12 language instruction.

Requirements include a Bachelor of Education and a Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility), fluency in Cree, knowledge of Indigenous culture and Truth and Reconciliation, plus prior teaching experience and strong classroom management.

  • Bachelor of Education Degree and Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
  • Fluency in the Cree language both written and oral
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, and the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Familiarity with the Kindergarten to Grade 12 Aboriginal Languages and Culture: Manitoba Curriculum Framework of Outcomes
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Experience working in a northern community (asset)

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY

West Lynn Heights is a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school with 235 students located in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, approximately 3½ hours by vehicle northwest of Thompson, Manitoba. The area's natural beauty provides for an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities.

WHAT YOU BRING
