Who We Are Looking For
As a member of the Bank Credit Risk team, the Credit Specialist is responsible for a variety of credit granting and related functions in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank policies and procedures. The role will inspect and validate the work done by others including third party outsourced service providers to ensure accurate and cost-effective service delivery to Rogers Bank.
What You’ll Do
- Underwriting of credit applications or requests and credit limit increases that exceed dollar thresholds or parameters of authority granted to third party service providers by reviewing and assessing factors such as customer credit history, credit utilization, and ability to pay (capacity).
- Employ credit risk assessment data sources and analytical tools such as credit bureau reports, bank and trade references, budgetary information, and other sources useful in determining credit worthiness; proactively contact customers for additional documentation as required.
- Monitor and validate the work done by outsourced service providers in credit queues for new applications and credit limit increase requests, ensuring that SLAs are met and escalations are handled per standard operating procedures.
- Assist with review and working of certain application queues as needed.
- Perform periodic reviews on high exposures for individual clients.
- Perform assessments on potentially fraudulent or non-compliant accounts and coordinate activities with other Bank departments accordingly.
- Assist in the development and documentation of operational process flows, balancing and audit functions, and standard operating procedures to be followed.
- Assist in the development and execution of improvements in acquisition strategies, line management and credit policies procedures. Proactively make recommendations to streamline processing and enhance the customer experience.
- Share responsibility for achieving key portfolio performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external Privacy, AML, and other regulations.
- Ensure department management is kept informed of any issues or developments that could impact the overall risk of the program being supported.

What You Bring
- Minimum 3-5 years credit industry experience
- Experience with TSYS TS2 and ADM is preferred
- Experience in retail / credit card underwriting is preferred
- Post secondary education or equivalent work experience
- Good verbal and written communication and time management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to adapt and reprioritize in a fast-paced, changing work environment
