Job Overview

The Credit Risk Analyst – Fund Specialist is responsible for managing the counterparty credit risk exposure of clients, focusing on fund structures (master funds, SPVs, etc.) and sponsor-backed corporates.

Deep knowledge of illiquid fund structures and associated debt is required to assess creditworthiness. The role involves negotiating collateral terms, monitoring credit risk indicators, and reviewing the credit quality of Monex Europe’s counterparties.

The main goal is to ensure credit risk exposure is within limits and to facilitate onboarding and margin processes for funds.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Assist the Risk team in risk-related matters, including financial analysis of clients and liquidity providers, and making recommendations aligned with risk appetite.
  • Manage margin requests, produce credit reports, and collaborate across units to address credit issues.
  • Develop processes to limit risk and improve credit management efficiency.
  • Prepare margin proposals and risk documentation such as collateral agreements, ISDAs, and guarantees.

Monitoring Credit Risk Exposures

  • Calculate Mark to Market values.
  • Ensure client exposures stay within limits.
  • Monitor and report margin positions and credit portfolio concentrations.
  • Escalate limit breaches to management.

General Risk Responsibilities

  • Track margin calls and understand risk policies.
  • Coordinate stress tests and produce risk reports.
  • Monitor market conditions affecting credit quality and alert management.
  • Implement risk management standards and coordinate risk committees.

Required Skills

  • Experience analyzing credit portfolios, especially fund structures, sponsor-backed corporates, and related debt. Knowledge of PE, VC, real estate, credit/debt, direct lending, infrastructure, or energy sectors is preferred.
  • Experience in credit risk analytics within a private or retail bank.
  • Strong technical skills, including VBA and Excel.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and large data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and understand financial products.

Preferred Certifications

  • Relevant risk management or finance qualifications, or equivalent experience (e.g., FCA).
  • Experience in regulated investment firms or banks.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations.
