About this Position

The Department of Broadcast Media Studies and Journalism Digital Media at Mount Royal University invites applications for part-time sessional appointments in Winter 2026, from January 5 to April 29, 2026.

Applicants should submit one application specifying the courses they are applying for and demonstrating their qualifications.

Courses and Responsibilities

  1. JOUR 2718 - Community-centred Journalism

    Lectures: 3 hours

    Focus on community-centred journalism, ethical engagement, trust-building, and Solutions Journalism. Emphasis on contemporary practices and trust, advocacy, objectivity, and solutions in journalism.

  2. Video and Photo Journalism Course

    Focus on digital media storytelling, video and photo production, using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, camera operations, lighting, and editing. Preference for candidates with journalism audio/video editorial experience.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Journalism or related fields.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses in Journalism or related fields for at least one semester.
  • Minimum of 3 years journalism-related experience preferred.
  • For the video/photo course: proficiency in equipment and software, experience in editing, lighting, and digital photography.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction: course delivery, preparation of materials, assessments, and LMS management.
